Global Giving Day: Unleashing Generosity

Global Giving Day in IFES is into its 3rd (or even 4th!) year now!  What a wonderful opportunity for us to stand together as a Fellowship.  It certainly was easier to imagine standing together, when we began as a Fellowship of 10 movements.  Now that we are 164 movements and still counting, that gets harder to envision.   

“Koinonia” - or fellowship as it means - expresses itself in participative sharing and a deep communion with one another’s experiences, needs of various kinds, and a solidarity of spirit with another.  It is a reflection of who God is and His heartbeat, to tend to, and be present to us. How can we forge this kind of “koinonia” amongst us in IFES?  How will we speak without words, in expressing that we are standing together with other movements, or with the Global Fellowship at large? 

Global Giving Day is a unique avenue where we can unleash a generosity of spirit and a generosity of resources to strengthen and uphold one another. My dream as Associate General Secretary (Global Fellowship) is to witness a redeeming of this “koinonia” amongst us.  I dream that 120 people from different movements or 120 movements will want to be part of unleashing a sense of solidarity, prayer and a sharing of our resources with one another.
